R. Bryant Hightower, Jr.

Bryant is a member of the Carrollton Rotary Club, past president of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers and past president of the Georgia Funeral Directors Association, as well as past president of Carrollton jaycees and Carrollton Main Street.  Bryant serves on the National Funeral Directors Association board as a regional representative.  Bryant is also a member of DMORT (Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team) which is a program of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.  Bryant and his wife, Cathy have three children and are members of Tabernacle Baptist Church.



Richard B. Hightower, Sr.

Richard Hightower graduated from Bremen High School in 1955, West Georgia College in 1957and John A. Gupton College of Mortuary Science in Nashville, TN, in1958. He returned to Bremen to assist his father in constructing the area's most modern funeral facility in 1960. In 1974, he master minded a major remodeling and chapel addition to the Martin & Hightower's

location in Carrollton. As business increased and taxed the capacity of the
West Center Street
location, in 1985 he built the Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel on
South Park Street
as a second location. Richard Hightower was a state and national leader in the development of funeral service. He was selected to the Academy of Graduate Embalmers and served on its board for 12 years. He is a past president of the Academy. He served on the Georgia State Board of Funeral Service from 1990 to 1998, has served on the Board of Directors of Independent Funeral Directors, and is past president of Associated Funeral Directors Service.

In 1999, Richard opened Hightower's Memorial Chapel in Douglasville to continue the Hightower family's service to the thousands of families in the West Georgia area. 



William P. 'Bill' Hightower

Bill is a third-generation funeral director and embalmer.  He lives in Bremen with his wife Susan.  They have a daughter, Jacqueline and 3 sons, Chris Wright and Tyler and Ryan Smith.  Bill is a graduate of Bremen High School and Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service.  Bill competed with the Bremen Wrestling Team and won the State Championship during high school. Bill and his family are members of the Bremen First United Methodist Church.  Bill and Susan own and operate Ambucare EMS in Haralson County.  Ambucare is a certified EMS provider.  Bill is very active in Bremen and Haralson County community service.  Bill is a member of Bremen Rotary.  He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Haralson County Chamber of Commerce. 



Cathy Hightower



Dan Dunn

Dan is a licensed funeral director and embalmer and has been with Martin & Hightower since 1989.  Dan graduated from Bay High School in 1968 and Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in 1990.  Dan is a native of Panama City, Florida and has lived in Carrollton for 18 years.  Dan has 3 children, Laura, Jason and Brandon.  Dan is a member of Midway Macedonia Baptist Church.



Ross Gibbs

Ross is a Temple native and now resides in Carrollton with his wife, Laura. Ross graduated from Temple High School in 2002 and Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in 2004.  Ross is a licensed funeral director and embalmer. 

Ross enjoys playing his guitar and banjo, carving, fishing, hunting, reading, traveling and playing with his dogs, Georgia and Frog.  He thoroughly enjoys spending time with his wife and family.

Ross has been with Martin & Hightower since June 10, 2002. 



Kent Standifer

Kent has been with Martin & Hightower since June, 2002.  Kent is a native of Bremen and graduated from Bremen High School in 1978.  He has lived in Carrollton for 18 years along with his wife Suzie.  The Standifers are members at Tabernacle Baptist Church and they have 3 children, Anna, Bob and Will.

Kent enjoys Fishing, Hunting, Camping, Gardening and motorsports.



Vicky Pope

Vicky is a life-long resident of Carrollton and is a 1983 graduate of Central High School.  Vicky is married to Scott Pope and has 2 sons, Anthony and Jacob Denney and a step son, Dylan Pope.  

Vicky and Scott attend Midway Macedonia Baptist Church. Vicky enjoys shopping, going on trips, swimming, hunting, gardening and spending time with her family.  She has been with Martin & Hightower since 2006.



Evelyn Reeves

Evelyn came to Martin & Hightower in August, 1997.  Since then, she has been very instrumental in the Circle of Friends and Days of Hope groups. 

Evelyn is a native of Arabi, Georgia and graduated from Newton County High School in 1957.  She currently resides in Roopville.  Evelyn retired from Bellsouth after 35 1/2 years.

Evelyn and her late husband, Jim, have 2 children, Deborah Barnette and Mike Reeves.  Evelyn and Jim were married for 47 wonderful years.

She is a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church where she is active in Sunday School.  She enjoys spending time with her family, being involved and helping people, reading, walking, traveling and working at Martin & Hightower. 



Lynnell Johnson

Catherine "Lynnell" York Johnson has lived most of her life in the Carrollton area.  She was a 1953 graduate of the Whitesburg High School.  She and her late husband, William Grant "Bill" Johnson, have 3 children, Dondra J. Merrell, Karan and Brent McCaghren and Matthew York Johnson.  Lynnell is an active member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church where she is involved in the Friedship Sunday School Class and helps feed families. 

Lynnell is very active in the Circle of Friends group sponsored by Martin & Hightower.  She is also active with the Days of Hope and Bellsouth Pioneers.

Lynnell retired from Bellsouth following 37 1/2 years of service to the Engineering Department.  She enjoys spending time with her children, her 5 grandchildren and her only great granddaughter.  She also enjoys watching "The Batchelor" and "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader" on television. 

Lynnell has been with Martin & Hightower since June, 1999.

Nell Thigpen

Nell came to work for Martin & Hightower in October, 2001.  She is a native of Newnan, Georgia and has been a long-time resident of Carrollton. She graduated from Carrollton High School in 1954.  She has 5 children, Michael David (Sharon) Thigpen; Sherry Lee Kierbow; Barry Mark (Debbie) Thigpen; Martha Nell (Dan) Roddenberry and Alicia Kay (Mark) Crawford. 

She is a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where she is involved in Sunday School, Prayer Group and helps cook for Awana's. She is very active in Circle of Friends and enjos reading, sewing, traveiling, family, her job and friends.

She is a proud Christian and mom and grandmother to 12-they are her joy!



Pauline Huckeba

Pauline is a life-long resident of Carroll County and graduated from Whitesburg High School in 1958.  She is a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Douglas County.  She volunteers her time at Tanner Medical Center and enjoys reading, cooking, gardening and most importantly, loving her chidren and grandchildren and spending time wit them.  Pauline also enjoys doing things for others and loves to work with and help older people.  She considers it a joy to be able to work at Martin & Hightower. 

Pauline hs 5 children: Ricky and Lana; Mike and Sharon; Steven and Lisa; Mandy and Wes; and Shanda and Brian.



Virginia Patterson



Millie Raburn

Millie is a lifelong resident of Carrollton.  She and her husband, Bill, have 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren and are members of the First United Methodist Church in Carrollton and are affiliate members of the Victory United Methodist Church.  Millie retired from Citizens Bank and Trust of West Georgia following 17 years of service.  Her husband, Bill, is the owner and operator of Bledsoe-Raburn Enterprises. During the holidays, Millie enjoys working at Mitchell's Gift Shop in Carrollton.  She also enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.  She has been with Martin & Hightower for over a year now and thoroughly enjoys serving families and caring for those who have suffered a loss.
