Obituary for David Walker Griffis

David Walker Griffis, age 73 of Bowdon, passed away March 13, 2018. He was born September 10, 1944 in Carroll County, son of the late Edmond Griffis and Bertha Hunt Griffis. He was the owner and operator of Griffis Painting. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Karen Joan Laminack Griffis; son, Cory Griffis; sister, Mary Reed; and brothers, Herman Griffis and Charles Griffis. He is survived by his daughters, Pam Washington of Carrollton and Kristin Strain of Bowdon; sisters, Barbara Clay of Dawsonville, Carol Foster of Carrollton, and Sarah Nelson of Goodwater, AL; brother, Larry Griffis of Jasper, FL; seven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Memorial service will be conducted Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 4:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Mr. John Huckeba officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until the hour of service. In keeping with the family’s wishes, his body will be cremated following the service. Those serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Strain, Justin Choswood, Grayson Whitley, John Huckeba, Johnny Stitcher, and Larry Clay.
