Obituary for Dewey Frontis Garvin

Dewey Frontis Garvin, age 83 of Franklin, Georgia passed away September 16, 2017. He was born September 18, 1933 in Aiken County, South Carolina, son of the late Dewey Garvin and Alma Scott Garvin. He began his working career as a farmer, worked as a heavy equipment operator and ended his career as an employee of Carrollton High School. He was a member of Glenloch Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two infant sisters and one infant brother. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia Jones Garvin of Franklin; one brother and sister-in-law, Hennis and Dorothy Garvin of Hampton, SC; sisters-in-law, Anne Jones and Duma Stover both of Barnwell, SC; several nieces and nephews; and dear friends April and Michael Pruitt, Amber Pruitt, and Tiffany Haynie. Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 3:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Neil Awbrey and Mr. Terry Harper officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the hour of service. In keeping with the family’s wishes, his body will be cremated following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Glenloch Baptist Church or to your favorite charity. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.martin-hightower.com.
