Obituary for Frances June Smith

Frances June Smith, age 78 of Carrollton, passed away May 20, 2017. She was born January 02, 1939 in Wrightsville, Georgia, daughter to the late Lester Pope and Illa Black Pope. She worked for the Atlanta Journal Constitution and was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church. She loved playing Bingo and shopping at yard sales. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Richard Smith; and a son, Michael Charles Morrow. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Pat Morrow Lee and Jerry of Carrollton; son and daughter-in-law, Wendell Dwayne Morrow and Donna of Douglasville; brother, Billy Pope of Florida; six grandchildren, Dina Strickland of Dothan, AL, Stephanie Allums of Olympia, WA, Erica Garner of Carrollton, Ashley Powell of Augusta, Mandy Lee of Carrollton, and Billie Lands of Roopville; sixteen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 2:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Tony Morris officiating. Interment will follow in Bethesda Baptist Church with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Jason Powell, Sgt. C.L. Lands, Matthew Garner, Jeff Lee and Pat Albright. Honorary pallbearers will be Jake Adams and Hunter Powe. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel of Carrollton has charge of the arrangements.
