Obituary for Juanita Shirey Watson

Juanita Shirey Watson, age 83 of Carrollton passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017. She was born July 9, 1934 in Gadsden, Alabama to the late Waymon Austin Shirey and Meggie Mae Harris Shirey. She retired from Dollar General where she had worked for more than 10 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Talmadge Watson; daughter, Tammy Phillips; son, Kenneth Watson; and brother, William Austin Shirey. Survivors include her children, Carlos Watson, Waymon I. Watson, Rodney Watson, Leslie Watson, Quenton D. Watson, and Melinda Baxter; sisters, Barbara Jacobs, and Linda Little; brothers, Jimmy Shirey and Clyde Shirey; thirty-two grandchildren, sixty-one great grandchildren, and a number of great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 2:00 PM from Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Layton, Rev. Chester Pesnell, and J. W. Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Anthony Watson, Corey Watson, Mitch Watson, Josh Watson, Michael Holloway, Kaimon Watson, Jeffery Walker, Joey Shirey. The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel of Carrollton has charge of the arrangements.
