Obituary for Rachel Ann Varner

Rachel Ann Varner, age 85 of Carrollton, Georgia passed away May 14, 2017. She was born March 02, 1932 in Kennesaw, Georgia to the late Ralph V. Wigley and Nannie Prewett Wigley. She graduated from Robert L. Osborn High School and began a long career in healthcare as a caregiver with Help at Home. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Agnes Wigley and Florence Blalock; and brothers, Horace Wigley, Buren Wigley, Leroy Wigley, Raymond Wigley, John Wigley and Frank Wigley. She is survived by her children, Marie Varner of Murrayville, GA, and Thomas Varner Jr. of Dalphine, VA; two grandchildren, Benjamin Propes, and Daphney Varner; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Sheila Cast, “adopted son” Phil Cast, Irene Westbrook, and Walter Dean Duke. Funeral service will be conducted Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. James Parks and Rev. Jerome Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Bremen. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Susan B. Komen Foundation at or to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at . Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel of Carrollton has charge of the arrangements.
