Sara Frances Birdsong Smith

Frances Smith, age 74 of Roopville, died Wednesday, May 17, 2017. She was born on June 14, 1942 in Roanoke, Alabama, the daughter of the late Trot Birdsong and Elizabeth G. Birdsong.
She was retired, having worked for over 41 years with BBI and she was a member of Veal Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Harold Smith; and daughter-in-law, Deneen A. Smith.
Survivors include her son, Gary A. Smith and his wife, Donna Corn Smith of Roopville; grandchildren, Michael A. Smith (Beverly) of Franklin, GA, and Bridget A. Thomas (Michael) of Clem; sisters, Betty Pool (Robert) of Roanoke, AL and Jean Heard of Roanoke, AL; six great grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 1:00 PM from Veal Baptist Church with Rev. Wesley Boatman and Bro. Jamie Meeks officiating. Music will be rendered by David Heard, Sabrina White, Faye Eady, Heather Marlow, and Barbara Arrington. Interment will follow in Veal Community Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers will be Barry McManus, Dusty McManus, Jimmy Heard, Dennis Heard, Paul Heard, Jody Smith, and David Heard. The family will receive friends Friday, May 19, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel.
