Obituary for William Frank Carroll

W. Frank Carroll

Mr. William Frank Carroll passed away Wednesday, August 02, 2017. Mr. Carroll was born July 11, 1933 in Washington, GA, the son of the late Ance Carroll and Georgie Alexander Carroll. He graduated from Carrollton High School in 1951 and from West Georgia College in 1959 and 1961. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 and served in the Korean Conflict and was on inactive standby reserves from 1956-1962. From 1980-1983 he served in the Alabama National Guard. He retired from the Alabama Power Company. Mr. Carroll was a member of the Cross Plains Christian Church and a member of the Carroll Masonic Lodge # 69 since 1957. He was also a member of the West Georgia Timber Growers Association.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Margie Ayers Carroll; a grandson, Blake Carroll; two brothers, Eugene Carroll and Fred Carroll; and a sister, Helen Carroll McEwen.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Louis and Ashley Carroll, and Bryan and Kelli Carroll; grandchildren, Jesse and Avery Wiggins, Tyler Carroll, Cole Small, Colin Small, Cody Small, Noah Baker, Gracie Baker and Dylan Stephens; great granddaughter, Ellie Kate Wiggins; brothers, Walter Carroll and George Carroll (Edna); sister, Rilla Carroll Roberson; sister-in-law, Elgerie T. Carroll all of Carrollton; brother-in-law, Ralph Ayers of Loganville, GA; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Pastor Ricky Shadrix officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in West Georgia Memorial Park with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Joel Hubbard, T.J. Treadwell, Alan Hubbard, John Stitcher, and Jason Stitcher. Honorary pallbearer will be C.H. Gilley. The American Legion post #143 will perform military honors and present the flag.
