Mr. Cecil E. Boatright, age 88, of Whitesburg, Ga., passed away Monday, February 1, 2010. He was born August 27, 1921 in Carrollton, Georgia the son of the late Grover Boatright and Ida Bachelor Boatright. Mr. Boatright was a veteran of the US Coast Guard. He retired from the Georgia Power Company after 34 years of service, was a member of the Georgia Power Ambassadors and served as chairman of IBEW Local. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where he served as deacon and was a member of the Senior Saints. Besides his parents, Mr. Boatright was preceded in death by his sisters, Velma Crawford, Marie Sailors and Lucille Dyer; brothers, W.C. Boatright and Frank Boatright. Survivors include his wife, Syble Hall Boatright; son, Tony K. Boatright of Decatur, Ga., daughters and son in law, Myra & Greg Weber of Roopville, Ga., and Debby Holcombe of Carrollton, Ga.; brother in law, Cecil Gladney of Carrollton, Ga.; grandchildren, Todd Weber, Tiffany Proctor, Wendy Reeve, Chaney Holcombe and Kacy McBurnett; also 11 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 2 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Bro. Doug New and Bro. Shane Roberson officiating. Music will be provided by Becky & Richard Griffin and Donnie Muse. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers will be Tim Heath, Frank DeLasandro, Will Reeve, Joe Banks, Zach Weber and Todd Weber. Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Reeve, Luke Reeve, Milford Taylor and Georgia Power Ambassadors. Interment will follow in Mt Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with the American Legion Post #143 presenting the flag. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 PM until 9 PM and Thursday from noon until the funeral hour.
