Biography
Mrs. Clyde Dean Martin, age 94, of Dean Drive, Carrollton, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010.
She was born in Franklin, Georgia on July 16, 1915, the daughter of the late William Parks Dean and Ophelia Smith Dean.
Mrs. Martin graduated from the A&M College in 1931 and celebrated their 60th class reunion in 1991 with classmates. A pioneer in her own way, Mrs. Martin was independent with a strong work ethic. Whether it was in the garden, flower bed, or as bookkeeper for Carroll EMC, she was meticulous. After 37 years with Carroll EMC she retired in 1980. This allowed for more time for her travels within the U.S. and abroad with her friends and family. At the age of 64, she met the love of her life and married. For 10 years they worked as a team tending to their cattle, yard work, and caring for each other. In the community, she was a member of the Pilot Club. A faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church since 1931, she shared her love of the Lord teaching children Sunday School and was a member of the Faithful Sharing Believers Class. Although she did not have any children of her own, Mrs. Martin received her joy from visits with each of her nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn F. Martin, her sisters, Opal Kramer, Loyce Talley, and her brother, Irving Dean.
Survivors include her sister, Ila Livingston, sisters-in-law, Thelma Dean and Betty Martin Carlson, nieces and nephews: Marsue Dean Lancaster, Janice Boyd, Dean Talley, Jane Moore, Elaine Smith, Diane T. Davis, Mike Livingston, Nelson Dean, Anita Brannon and Frank Carlson, great nieces and nephews, Hugh Barr Miller IV, Dickson Miller, Laurie Causey, Leslie Kimbril, Meghan Moore, Melanie Clay, LTC Terrell Boyd, Christy Correll, Christy Smith, Andy Talley, Hope Szczepkowski, Ashley Hendrix, Jamie Dean, Abby Dean, Josh LaBaron, Clint Brannon, Kevin Brannon, and Craig Brannon, great-great nieces and nephews: Brittney Hill, Austin Clay, Christopher Clay, Preston Hendrix, Tucker Hendrix, Katy Correll, Andrew Correll, Taylor Boyd, Jordan Boyd, Hugh Barr Miller V, Caroline Miller, Jason Moon, Isabella Szczepkowski, Luke Szczepkowski, Jett Janowski, and Van Smith.
