Mr. Coburn Stephens Ward age 89, of Russian River Drive, Atlanta, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2010 in a local hospital. He was born September 5, 1920 in Graham, Alabama to the late Henry Coburn Ward and Addie Lee Stephens Ward. Mr. Ward was a US Army Veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart for service connected injuries. He was a member of the Bethlehem Campground United Methodist Church and the Graham Masonic Lodge # 354 F&AM. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who cherished his family. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Noris Ward, Beason Ward and J. Q. Ward. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Ward who he married on his birthday September 5, 1942, a daughter and son in law, Linda and Ray Shockley of Grantville, Ga.; a granddaughter and her husband Patrice and Scott Dolan of Forsyth, Ga.; grandchildren Natalie & Kyle Whitson of Senoia, Ga., Kristi and Chris Wilson of Sharpsburg, Ga., Zachery Dolan of Gainesville, FL., and Courtney Dolan of Sharpsburg, Ga.; great grandchildren, Kynsli Makaela Wilson and Beau Lane Whitson; brothers, Nathan and Stella Ward of Anniston, AL., Billy and Lois Ward of Graham, AL., Norman and Wendy Ward of Carrollton, Ga.; also surviving are a number of loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 2:00 EST from the Bethlehem Campground United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Wiggins and Rev. Jimmy Nixon officiating. Pallbearers will be Wayne Ward, Gil Ward, Norman Ward Jr., Dwight Ward, Kyle Whitson, Chris Wilson and Zachery Dolan. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 until 8:00PM and at the church on Saturday from 1:30 until the funeral hour.
