Mr. Howard “Pat” Tarpley, age 78, of Hays Mill Rd., Carrollton, GA., passed away Tuesday, March 09, 2010. He was born August 24, 1931 in Carrollton, Georgia the son of the late Willie Lee Tarpley and Annie Mae Patterson Tarpley. Mr. Tarpley retired from Southwire Manufacturing after 20 years of service and later worked for Richards Homes. He served in the US Army and was a member of Goshen Southern Congregational Methodist Church. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Frances Tarpley Langley. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Folds Tarpley; children and spouses, Bobby Tarpley of Carrollton, David & Denise Tarpley of Roopville, Sonja & Tony Pitts of Bremen, Sherman & Sylvia Tarpley of Carrollton and Jennifer & Bobby Smith of Bowdon; sister, Geneva Smith of Bremen; brother, Hoyt Tarpley of Carrollton; also 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 4 PM from Goshen Southern Congregational Methodist Church with Bro. David Gray, Bro. Frank Jenkins and Bro. Shane Tarpley officiating. Pallbearers will be Andrew Pitts, David (Shorty) Mosley, Eric Tarpley, Terry Langley, Shane Caldwell, Kevin Parrott, Wayne Hines and Rick Walden. Craig Brannon and Ashley Knight will provide the music. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 PM until 8 PM.
