Obituary for Harris Nell Griffin Jennings

Harris Nell Griffin Jennings, 83, passed away peacefully at home on July 2, 2019 after battling cancer for nearly 5 years. She was born in 1935 to the late William Raymond Griffin and Margaret Elizabeth Griffin. She was preceded in death by a brother Ray Alvis Griffin and an infant son Gerald Anthony Jennings.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Thomas B. Jennings Jr. of Clem, Children, Son Steve (Pilar) Jennings of Raleigh, NC., Daughter Janice (Ricky) Powers of Carrollton, GA., Son Gary (Melinda) Jennings of Carrollton, GA., and Son Ronnie (Angela) Jennings of Jemison, AL. Grandsons, Chuck (Tiffany) Powers, Patrick Jennings, and Griffin Jennings all of Carrollton, GA., Steven Jennings of Raleigh, NC., and Dylan Jennings of Jemison, AL. Granddaughters, Christy (Matthew) Greene, Sara Jennings, and Lyndsey Jennings of Carrollton, GA., Emily (Nathan) Burnett of Clanton, AL., Kayla (Austin) Robinson, Abby Jennings and Lacey Jennings of Jemison, AL. Great Grandchildren, Alexa and Bryce Greene of Carrollton, GA., and Cody Burnett of Clanton, AL. Sister, Maggie (Larry) Heath of McDonough, GA., Brother, Ralph (Hildred) Griffin of Carrollton, GA., Brother -in-law, Ellis (Cathy) Jennings of Buchanan, GA, Sister's-in-law, Joann (Harry) Eidson of Carrollton, GA., Barbara Griffin of Carrollton, GA, and fifteen loving nieces and nephews.

She was a faithful member and dedicated Deacon's wife at The Church at Pleasant Hill. A loving mother and devoted homemaker.

She was a proud 1954 graduate of Roopville High School and enjoyed supporting her husband and children with various organizations and activities thru the years along with supporting her husband and children in the family business for the past 40 years.

The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home in Carrollton, GA on Friday July 5, 2019 from 5 - 8 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at The Church at Pleasant Hill on Saturday July 6, 2019 at 11:00 am where she will lie in state at the Church for one hour prior to the funeral hour.

Interment will follow in the Church cemetery. Pallbearers are: Chuck Powers, Matthew Greene, Nathan Burnett, Austin Robinson, Patrick Jennings, and Steven Jennings with Dylan Jennings and Griffin Jennings serving as escorts. The services will be officiated by Rev. Bobby Littleton, Rev. Harold Farris, Rev. David Farris, Rev. Jacob Day, and Rev. Gary Jennings.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the cemetery fund at The Church at Pleasant Hill or material donations to Tanner Hospice Care in Carrollton.

The family wishes to thank the following:

Dr. Jackie Stringfellow and staff at West Georgia Internal Medicine, Dr. Randall Pierce and staff at Northwest Georgia Oncology, and the nurses and staff of Tanner Hospice Care for their loving care and support of our Mother and family during her life along with the staff of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home for their care and support of the family.
